Multicultural Women Victoria is proud to partner with Wyndham City Council and Monash University’s Faculty of Design (XYX Lab) on an innovative arts and research program that celebrates and preserves migrant and refugee women’s traditional knowledge of plants.

Currently in its first phase, the 12-week program is being delivered at Tarneit’s Penrose Community Centre and in Melbourne’s CBD. Through creative workshops, cultural exchanges, and expert-led sessions in naturopathy and women’s health, participants explore how traditional plant knowledge can support wellbeing and identity. Women will also learn ethical foraging practices, take part in nature-based excursions, and create textile artworks that reflect their stories and wisdom.

This project honours intergenerational knowledge and fosters community connection, cultural pride, and a deeper relationship with the natural world.

This project is supported by the Australian Government Creative Grassroots Initiative program.
