Our Plants, Our Heritage brought together a team of multicultural women creatives—emerging and established—to collaboratively explore culture through botanical art and textile design.
Each participant chose a plant of cultural significance, painted it, and contributed to a shared creative process. Their artworks were transformed into repeat patterns by the project lead and locally printed in Coburg by Next State Studio. Alongside the fabric, they produced a zine, were interviewed for a short documentary, and performed with the textiles in a collaborative photoshoot.
The collection has been exhibited internationally and locally, including at the FORSSA Textile Festival in Finland, it was part of Melbourne Design Week 2024, it was also shown at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, and Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery—celebrating the power of culture and collaboration through fabric.
